mojo magazine 2

This rock magazine has got a lot of readers aged 25-50.

Rock music appeal to a lot of ethnic groups who are interested in fights, alcohol and drugs. In the masthead, they have used a name half in white and half in yellow so that it stands out. The writing in the masthead is bold so that it catches the readers eye.

The colours on the cover are red, blue, yellow and white. Some of the colours show that it is rock music because it is like fire. The writing on the cover is cramped and tilted. This helps the reader by showing them what is on the inside of the magazine. The photo is a medium-close up shot of a man with long hair which shows us stereotyping of people who are interested in rock music. The facial expression in the image is serious and bright, the man is wearing a black t-shirt. The main image can attract the target audience because it shows them what kind of music the magazine is talking about. There are images on the cover of people dancing and talking showing the target audience what kind of magazine it is. There are people in an image that look like they could be listening to rock music just like a lot of the members in the target audience may enjoy doing. The images have teasers that show the readers what may be inside the magazine. There is writing on the cover in short simple sentences to create a picture in the readers heads. On the front cover, it says ’25 years of’, this could appeal to people over the age of 30 because they may remember when album first came out that long ago. There are some cliff hanger-like sentences in the words ion the cover which makes the target audience curious to find out more about it. On the cover, there is a bar code the name of the magazine and the date, all of which are quite small to make more room for images and text.

mojo cover analysis

they have used mojo as the masthead. the target audience might be 30-41 because some young people might not listen to this kind, it doesn't matter about the gender because it could be for both genders. they have used bold and big letters for the masthead but the social grade is abc1.

the colour of the pallet is white and blue the title is white and the background is blue. the blue, black and white connote a cool read for males. red connotes is for violence, sex and passion which links to all the songs which they enjoy.

analysing a music video

https://www.vevo.com/watch/maroon-5/payphone-(clean)/USUV71200666
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone, baby it's all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two
Yeah, I, I know it's hard to remember
The people we used to be
It's even harder to picture
That you're not here next to me
You say it's too late to make it
But is it too late to try
And in our time that you wasted
All of our bridges burned down
I've wasted my nights
You turned out the lights
Now I'm paralyzed
Still stuck in that time
When we called it love
But even the sun sets in paradise
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone, baby it's all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two
If Happy Ever Afters did exist
I would still be holding you like this
All those fairy tales are full of it
One more stupid love song, I'll be sick
Oh, you turned your back on tomorrow
'Cause you forgot yesterday
I gave you my love to borrow
But you just gave it away
You can't expect me to be fine
I don't expect you to care
I know I've said it before
But all of our bridges burned down
I've wasted my nights,
You turned out the lights
Now I'm paralyzed
Still stuck in that time
When we called it love
But even the sun sets in paradise
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone, baby it's all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two?
If Happy Ever Afters did exist
I would still be holding you like this
All those fairy tales are full of it
One more stupid love song, I'll be sick
Now I'm at a payphone
Man, f*** that sh**
I'll be out spending all this money
While you're sitting round wondering
Why it wasn't you who came up from nothing
Made it from the bottom
Now when you see me I'm stunting
And all of my cars start with a push of a button
Telling me the chances I blew up
Or whatever you call it
Switch the number to my phone
So you never could call it
Don't need my name on my show
You can tell it I'm ballin'
Swish, what a shame could have got picked
Had a really good game but you missed your last shot
So you talk about who you see at the top
Or what you could have saw but sad to say it's over for
Phantom pulled up valet open doors
Wiz like go away, got what you was looking for
Now it's me who they want, so you can go and take
That little piece of sh** with you
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone, baby it's all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two
If Happy Ever Afters did exist
I would still be holding you like this
All those fairy tales are full of it
One more stupid love song, I'll be sick
Now I'm at a payphone

How to Do cover analysis

age:15-25
gender:mainly male
social grade: working and small class
ethnicity:black and white
interests:hip-hop and rap

the magazine is called vibe it is a good name because it makes you to have good vibe's.
vibe doesn't connect with the audience.
i used an impact font which is very bold and masculine so that it'll attract lots of people to read this magazine more. i've used black because its a rebellious confident colour and that will bring in loads of customers.

i have put red, black and white
this colours connote rap and hip-hop
they represent crime and power

the main image is a low angle medium shot of a male star in a hoodie.
the star is looking of the camera showing that he's rebellious and he's showing that its serious. the main image attracts to the audience because the star is someone they'll look up to.
